The 29th World Gas Conference (WGC2025) opened on the morning of the 20th at the Beijing National Convention Center. Present at the opening ceremony were Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Mayor Yin Yong, Li Yalan, President of the International Gas Union, and Jin Liqun, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

This marks the first time in nearly a century since its inception that the World Gas Conference is being held in China. As one of the three flagship events of the International Gas Union (IGU), the conference features an accompanying exhibition covering 50,000 square meters, the largest in the history of the World Gas Conference. Under the theme "Powering a Sustainable Future," the event has attracted over 3,000 delegates from 70 countries and regions worldwide to engage in in-depth discussions and build consensus on global energy transition, the development of the natural gas industry, and pathways to a sustainable future.
