Nowadays, stainless steel piping systems are ubiquitous in all areas of production and daily life. Widely used in water supply and drainage pipes, direct drinking water pipes, fire protection pipes, food sanitation, urban heating, petrochemicals, and environmental industries. Factors include social development level, the properties of stainless steel piping itself, and piping connection methods.

Stainless steel piping's popularity stems from its unique properties. Its name comes from a 19% chromium-rich oxide layer that prevents rusting. It withstands high and low temperatures without cracking. Traditional pipes can burst when water freezes and expands due to poor ductility. Stainless steel pipes operate safely long-term from -70°C to 120°C, with over 25% elongation. High strength, excellent seismic and impact resistance (3x copper, 8-10x plastic) make it popular in modern decorative structures.
Stainless steel pipes weigh 1/3 of galvanized pipes, ideal for high-rise building water supply. Lifespan exceeds 70 years, matching buildings for "lifetime" use. Connection methods now include innovative options like double press, single press, grooved, and clamp connections (see Fig 1-2). Compared to traditional welding/screwing, they offer fast installation, ease, low cost, high safety, and full pipe bore for reduced energy loss.

To meet market demand, stainless steel pipes are evolving. Breakthroughs in materials, processes, and wall thickness have occurred. Thin-wall stainless steel piping solves pressing market issues. Retaining original properties, it's lighter and easier to install. This expands its applications. Lightweight, visually appealing systems are increasingly used where traditional pipes cannot reach. These points highlight stainless steel's advantages and its inevitable replacement of traditional pipes across industries.
